Maureen Sanguy and Axel Kerloch unveil Noces de Brume, their student short film created at French digital arts school ARTFX.

In 1860, Charlotte and Auguste are a couple of painters. When Auguste loses his sight due to an illness, he continues to paint out of griet. Charlotte wil make him believe, along with the rest of the world, that his paintings are still masterpieces.

Noces de Brume is an atypical film within the ARTFX 2023 class, as the short film is relatively long (about fifteen minutes). Moreover, the team wanted to “make the visual effects disappear behind the story.” This is why they focused on invisible effets: paintings added in post, matte paintings, green screens, candles, weather effects, etc. Maureen Sanguy and Axel Kerloch also discuss in the making-of (which starts at 16 minutes 25 seconds, after the short film) how they worked on the image to make the short film look like it was shot on film.
