L’Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences a dévoilé une liste de 14 avancées qui seront peut-être primées à l’occasion des Oscars Scientifiques et Techniques.
Il s’agit d’une liste provisoire, avec des avancées retenues « pour plus ample examen » : le but est de permettre aux individus ou sociétés à l’origine d’avancées similaires et antérieures de se manifester auprès de l’Académie.
La date limite pour la contacter est fixée au 27 août.
Du côté de l’animation et des effets visuels, on note la présence de :
– Pixar pour le shading physique ;
– ZBrush et Mudbox en tant que logiciels de sculpture 3D ;
– Plume et Flux (ILM et DreamWorks Animation respectivement) pour la simulation avec accélération et rendu de fumée, feu et explosions ;
– Les Spherical Harmonics utilisées pour l’éclairage, par Weta ;
– Le Deep Compositing, par Weta ;
– Zeno, framework logiciel destiné aux VFX et à l’animation, par ILM ;
– MotionBuilder, par Autodesk.
