Maxon has announced that its software ZBrush is now available on iPad. This news opens up new possibilities for creative use.
Of course, this version is adapted for Apple hardware, but Maxon explains that artists won’t be limited. For example, on an iPad M4 with 1TB of storage or more, it’s possible to manage up to 92 million polygons per mesh.
ZBrush for iPad includes the essential features of ZBrush, with more than 200 brushes and tools such as ZRemesher, Sculptris Pro, and DynaMesh. The interface has been redesigned to suit the touchscreen, as shown in the presentation video below.
ZTools and ZProjects can be transferred between a traditional workstation and an iPad, and vice versa. GoZ files can also be used for data transfers.
ZBrush for iPad comes in two versions:
- A free but limited version, which acts as a trial. The differences between the different versions are listed on the official website.
- A paid version, available for around $90/year (or $10 per month). It should be noter that ZBrush for iPad is included in ZBrush and Maxon One subscriptions, so existing customers won’t have to pay anything extra.
