Watch Wildheart, an animated short film project featuring Kenta, a 6-year-old orphan, and his friend Makoto, who is 10 years old. The duo embarks on a journey to find Kenta’s mother but soon realizes that the anticipated reunion may come at a heavy price.
Directed by Marceau Nakayama, Wildheart is brought to life by Keytales, a studio based in Paris, France. The project aims to become an animated feature, but for now, the team is exploring the universe and characters through a series of short films, with Wildheart being the first.
Here’s the film, followed by more details:
While the world in which the characters exist is fictional, it is strongly influenced by the 1960s and the elements that defined that decade: the Tokyo Olympics, the Japanese bullet train, color television, and new toys.
Wildheart seeks to capture this era of significant change while focusing on the concept of family.
Marceau Nakayama explained us that Keytales originally focused on animation consulting, as well as live-action cinema and video games. The team is currently dedicated to developing its own intellectual properties. The series of short films set in the Wildheart universe aims to attract producers and studios, potentially leading to a full-length feature film.
Wildheart was created by a relatively small team, as indicated by its credits. Keytales typically collaborates with 5 to 15 artists depending on the project, often utilizing remote work.
We will have the opportunity to share future installments of this universe. In the meantime, feel free to visit the project’s website.
