Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts – VFX breakdown by MPC

VFX studio MPC has unveiled two videos about their work on the latest Transformers movie.

For Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, over 1000 artists and production crew collaborated across various studios: MPC London, Montreal, Bangalore, LA, Adelaide.

MPC explains that “production VFX Supervisor Gary Brozenich oversaw the visual effects, working with MPC VFX Supervisors Richard Little and Carlos Caballero Valdés and MPC VFX Producers Cindy Deringer and Nicholas Vodicka. Over 1000 artists and production crew collaborating across MPC’s studios in London, Montreal, Bangalore, LA, Toronto and Adelaide delivered 896 shots”. These included shots featuring the major characters: Arcee, Bumblebee, Mirage, Optimus Primal, Optimus Prime, Rhinox, Scourge as well as Unicron, the planet eating character.
MPC worked on major sequences such as the beginning of the story in New York, the abandoned warehouse scene where the main human characters meet the Autobots, the Ellis Island Battle, the Switchback mountain chase, and a sequence where the Autobots meet the Maximals.

MPC was also tasked with creating the previzualisation for many dynamic sequences. MPC’s Visualization team was led by Head of Visualization Patrick Smith and SVP Katie Hooten. Previs Supervisor Abel Salazar, worked alongside MPC’s VFX Supervisors. Together, they created over 2000 postvis shots.
