Illumination unveils the final trailer for the long-awaited The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It features Luigi in grave danger, as well as a jaw-dropping Mario Kart sequence on the Rainbow Road!
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) and produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Nintendo’s Representative Director and Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario. The movie will be released in theaters April 5.
The film is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo. The screenplay is by Matthew Fogel (Minions: The Rise of Gru, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part).
Illumination and Nintendo won’t stop here: it took more than six years to produce The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and the goal is quite obviously to produce more movies together in the future.
