Thanks to the NewImages Festival and XR3 Events, we had the opportunity to discover Strands of Mind, an immersive project created by Adrian Meyer.
What begins like a walk in a forest quickly turns into an impressive trip full of mysticism, mystery and beauty. The film invites us to dive within life itself, and beyond. The CG work is outstanding, and the film uses scale and tone to explore several abstract ideas.
Somewhere between an exploration of the cells of a living being, a drug-induced trip and the abstract beauty of fractals, Strands of Mind is an impressive piece. It was created as a student project by Adrian Meyer (director) and Laura messner (producer) at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. The movie can be difficult to transcribe in words, but we advise you to check it out, unless you suffer from photosensitive epilepsy (a specific part of the movie may not be suitable for you).
As stated above, you can experience this project until the end of the week-end in Paris at NewImages Festival, but also wherever you are with XR3 (june 9-20 then july 6-17 : download the Museum of Other Realities app on Viveport or Steam VR, then buy the NewImages Festival DLC), or during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
