MPC et Mikros, qui font tous deux partie du groupe Technicolor, annoncent le regroupement de leurs les activités VFX pour les longs-métrages, séries, documentaires.

It should be reminded that both studios are both part of the Technicolor group. Mikros studios (based in Paris, France and Liège, Belgium) will operate under the MPC Film & Episodic brand.

In other words, VFX and animation activities tied to MPC and Mikros will operate under three brands within the Technicolor group:

  • MPC Film & Episodic (aka “MPC”) is focused on VFX, pre/post-production for feature films, episodic projects as well as documentaries. MPC studios are located in Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Bangalore, Paris, Liège. Béatrice Bauwens, previously MD at Mikros VFX, is at the head of the Paris and Liège studios.
  • Mikros Animation is focused on feature-length animation projects, as well as animated series, long-form episodic animation, original animated content development.
  • Last, but not least, Mikros MPC Advertising (aka “Mikros MPC”) is focused on advertising, music videos, VR/XR, cultural content.

The press release gives us some insight about the reasons behind this move: the team will share technologies, the teams in Paris and Liège will bring their “French and Belgium touch”, and MPC Episodic & Film customers will have additional tax rebate options.

“Bringing our creative and technical expertise to projects and getting involved with filmmakers to bring solutions has always been our driving force,” Béatrice Bauwens said. “We share with the MPC teams the same passion to find solutions that best serve the stories. The association of Mikros VFX and MPC Episodic is a great opportunity for the teams to have access to the world’s highest technology and an exceptional community of talent for the benefit of our clients in Paris and Liège. We are proud to bring our French and Belgium touch to the MPC brand.”

MPC Episodic’s Global MD, Tom Williams, commented, “I’m delighted to welcome the incredible talent of the Mikros VFX team. Joining forces affirms our commitment to provide the best VFX talent and technology to our clients anywhere in the world.”

Williams continued: “France has a rich history of filmmaking and we are honoured to have the opportunity to work within the French market and offer our international clients access to the wealth of talent available in Paris and Liège, as well as more VFX production tax rebate options.”

MPC and Mikros have already updated their respective websites to feature this new alliance.
