The multiple waves of layoffs that have affected Disney in recent months are continuing. According to Deadline, approximately 300 people have just been shown the door.
After 175 departures at Pixar in May (see our article), followed by 140 people in the television division, this new wave now affects more administrative departments of the entertainment giant. Human resources, legal department, and finance are among the departments affected.
These numbers are, of course, far from the massive layoffs of 2023 (around 7,000 departures), but they follow the same goal of cost-saving. Disney’s aim remains to improve its finances and, thus, its stock price. As we explained earlier this year, Disney’s streaming segment is finally profitable, a big step forward after years of losses.
We will continue to follow the situation in the coming months.
