Watch Kaiju Kid Kaiju Kid, a thesis short film from French digital arts school ARTFX. The project blends live-action footage and VFX to create a short paying hommage to vintage Japanese monster movies.

In 1974, Hiroshi, a mediocre actor who lives in Tokyo, is given the role of Krokodor, a Kaiju wreaking destruction. After several hours of hellish shooting, he is fired. He learns that an audition will be held to find his replacement. He vows to get his role back and sets off to train, to be up to the challenge of the casting that awaits him. But not everything goes according to plan…

The short film is directed by Sasha Abrahams, Thibault Durand, Zhu Guangda, Emmanuel Kingunza, Clément Lepinay, Victor Mezerai, Romain Pelissier, Alexandre Pont, and Théo Soler.
