VFX & Animation company DNEG just announced plans to create a new studio in Toronto. This will be their fourth North American studio (DNEG already has studios in Montreal, Vancouver and Los Angeles).
This new Toronto studio will initially employ “up to 200 people”, according to DNEG, with technology, VFX and animation positions. Paul Salvini (Global CTO – DNEG) highlighted that some of the new technology jobs would involve AI and machine learning.
Due to the pandemic, the new employees will initially work remotely, and the search for a physical location is still underway.
In addition to this new studio, DNEG plans to expand its existing Vancouver and Montreal offices “with up to 300 new roles”, including 100 for the DNEG Animation team in Vancouver.
In other words, DNEG plans to hire around 500 new employees across Canada.
At the moment, DNEG is around 7000 employees strong, with studios in Canada, Los Angeles, London, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai and Mumbai.
