Annecy Festival day 2: TMNT, Inseparables and Spider Man.

This article is available in: French

Three screening events, three moving projects: Monday was filled with emotions here at Annecy!

We also watched The Inseparables from nWave studios. We recently interviewed this Belgian studio, and we were eager to discover their latest animated feature. This was a work in progress copy of the film, with a few temp sequences: which is understandable as the movie won’t come out in theaters until the end of this year.

Director Jeremie Degruson introduced us to the world of this charming blend of buddy movie and Don Quichotte, which is also an ode to the power of imagination. We should be able to chat with Jeremie Degruson at the end of the week: we’ll soon be able to share the interview on 3DVF!

Why the Annecy Festival is so great: you can watch an animated feature a few feet away from the director, then witness first hand his reaction after the screening!

We also attended the world premiere of The Spider Within: a Spider Man Story, a moving short film by Sony Pictures Animation created as part of a program which aims to provide talents from underrepresented groups opportunities to gain leadership experience. The short film itslef focuses on the relationships between Miles Morales and his father.

Last, but not least, in the evening we were able to attend the screening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, the highly anticipated animated feature by Jeff Rowe & Kyle Spears, made by Mikros Animation and Cinesite. This wasn’t the finished film, and several scenes were still a work in progress: this is why Paramount Pictures asked us not to publish a full review at this stage. We are allowed, however, to give you a short takeaway: wow!

The highlight of the third day will be the opening of the MIFA, the professional market, with lots of booths to visit: studios, hardware and software companies, and more!
