Watch A Bicyclette (“On a Bike”), a thesis short film from French digital arts school Piktura (formerly known as Pôle 3D) which is now available online after touring festivals and gathering various awards.
It follows the daily life of an old man riding a bicycle in Northern France. The team behind the short film (Océane Lavergne, Benjamin Langagne, Lucas Durot, Pierre Cilluffo, Marine Beuvain, and Kerrian Detay) chose to use stylized rendering and successfully created a poetic atmosphere. They did not hesitate to delve into contemplative moments or to step away from the central character to offer slices of life.
A Bicyclette is a short film that takes its time, without being boring: a challenge considering its approach, but the directors were up to the task. We also appreciated the set design, with meadows and architecture reminiscent of Northern France, as well as the sound design and music.
