Le nom de Colin Levy vous dit sans doute quelque chose : il était le co-réalisateur d’Agent 327: Operation Barbershop. Nous l’avions d’ailleurs interviewé sur ce projet il y a un an.
Son dernier projet est bien plus personnel. Le court-métrage My Grandfather’s Memory Book lui permet d’évoquer les souvenirs laissés par son grand-père à sa mort : une impressionnante collection de dessins, peintures et notes, souvenirs d’une vie entière couchés sur le papier.
L’animation accompagne un article publié dans le New York Times sur le même sujet et que nous vous invitons à découvrir.
Outre l’aspect touchant du sujet, on notera un retournement des conventions habituelles : les dessins de son grand-père Byron Levy sont reproduits tels quels, en couleurs, alors que l’animation de Colin Levy et donc les passages contemporains sont en noir et blanc.
